Let’s talk iPhone 5 and iPad 3 rumors.
A source from Japan told Macotakara that Apple is launching a 4-incher iPhone and LCD display for the next iPad, or the long-rumored iPad 3.
A new rumor was posted online by popular Mac blogger from Japan, Macotakara on Saturday about the upcoming Apple devices: The iPad 3 and the iPhone 5. Apparently, the next iteration of the iPhone will include a new design based on Apple’s product cycles history, and it looks like the computer company turned smartphone giant is ready to offer a larger phone.
Unlike previous rumors posted online which mentioned Samsung, Sharp and LG, the Japanese tech blog is reporting that Hitachi and Sony Mobile have begun shipments of the larger 4-inch displays to Apple for unspecified iOS device that will arrive in the market next year. The current iPhone is the iPhone 4S with 3.5-inch screen similar to the older iPhone 4, and the next Apple smartphone may use the “iPhone 5″ brand name.
If this new “iPhone 5″ rumor is true, then it is highly possible that the next iPhone will offer a larger touchscreen size.
Aside from the iPhone 5, the iPad 3 is also reportedly poised to arrive next and similar to the 2012 iPhone, the iPad 3′s screen is rumored to include Hitachi and Sony Mobile liquid crystal displays. The report also added that the two Japanese companies are set to merge their business with Toshiba Mobile Display Co., Ltd. to form the “Japan Display” in Spring of 2012.
The next iPhone will face serious rivals early next year courtesy of Google’s new operating system, the Android Ice Cream Sandwich which includes a more polished user interface and better application support. The upcoming Google Android devices are also expected to offer large screen with better pixel density. The first Android Ice Cream Sandwich device, the Galaxy Nexus from Samsung, includes a 4.65-inch screen with 316 pixels per inch. It is worth mentioning that the iPhone 4S offers 326 ppi in a 3.5-inch screen.
