Asus Transformer 2 Prime à la Galaxy Nexus

Is Asus determined to gain even more momentum? Tablet exercises Ice Cream Sandwich.

So, you’re impressed with the Galaxy Nexus (or Nexus Prime if you prefer) eh? Well, see this new tablet flaunting the very beautiful and Android Ice Cream Sandwich featuring a new user interface and sweet transition effects that fool our eyes.
The jaw-droppingly powerful Transformer Prime tab (courtesy of the folks from Asustek) has only been officially announced for a few weeks, but the Taiwan-based consumer electronics giant is already showing off what the Tegra 3 processor can do to an already awesome and fast mobile operating system. This, will  make the Transformer Prime one heck of an impressive portable media powerhouse soon–not that it isn’t already.

Well, as stated by Nvidia, Asus is in the final stages of developing the Android 4.0 (Aka, Ice Cream Sandwich) update for the soon to be released Transformer Prime tablet (It’s also now up for pre-order at Amazon for $492, $536.99 for the 32GB model at CDW). Want proof? Watch the video below embed below this article.
The Transformer Prime is Asus’s first quad-core tablet that’ll be released — actually, they may even be the first company that will be able to introduce the first quad-core, Android-based tablet  on the market with a little help from Nvidia. The ‘Kal-el’ laden tablet from Asus (as most of you probably know by now) features a 10.1” 1280×800 Super IPS LCD display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass on top, 1GB of RAM, comes in either 32GB or 64GB worth of internal storage, an 8MP camera capable of 1080p Full HD video recording and will run on Android’s Honeycomb 3.2 when it gets released, which won’t take long before it gets tossed out since the  ICS update will be out shortly for sure.
It’s worth noting that the Android Ice Cream Sandwich is basically a Google Android platform that’s redesigned from the ground up, with notable changes in the UI such as virtual buttons which will soon render capacitive touch buttons obsolete, you no longer have to go through a plethora of confusing menus or tap-and-holds to be able to create a new folder (like in Gingerbread), just drag an app over the other and it’ll do the job for you (similar procedure with Apple’s iOS), Face Unlock which uses facial recognition tech to unlock your device, et cetera… but the most notable improvement done under the hood by Google is the fact that GPU acceleration is taken one step further, the user interface no longer relies on the processor to produce the transitions and animations, the GPU now does all the work.
With the help of the quad 1.3GHz (runs at 1.4GHz for single-threaded apps for optimal performance) Cortex-A9 processor cores, fifth ‘companion core’, high-speed mobile DDR3 RAM (1GB),  and the very powerful 12-core GeForce GPU, the GPU-accelerated features of the Android 4.0 will most definitely make for a smooth and virtually lag-free Android tablet/smartphone experience.
So these are the devices that will give us the sneak peek at the future of Google Android: Beautiful user interface, faster web browsing, better gaming support and to-die-for transition effects. Are you ready for the Galaxy Nexus and the Transformer Prime? I am, and actually, my credit card is ready.
