iPhone 4S rival from Facebook with a twist of Google Android?

Facebook is Microsoft’s partner, but the social networking giant is reportedly building a Google Android-based smartphone. Toink.

Android plus Facebook equals Facebook phone, where’s Microsoft?
Windows Phone is not popular, that’s the fact. However, Microsoft’s partners like Nokia, Samsung and HTC are trying their best to get more mobile market share. But here’s the catch, Facebook is Microsoft’s Bing search engine partner, but the web giant’s first smartphone will not use Windows Phone.
If you’re a Windows Phone fan, then you will probably argue that Android is “forkable” and Facebook has decided to use Google’s idea because Facebook its own ecosystem running on top of a popular operating system which is actually similar to Barnes and Noble’s and Amazon’s tablet strategy.
But the problem is, Microsoft is one of the strongest partners of Facebook because they share a common enemy (ehem, Google). If the new Facebook rumor is to be believed, then it is highly possible that Facebook is not attracted to Windows Phone and its “tiles.” Period.
According to the new Facebook rumor from All Things Digital, Facebook is currently building the first real Facebook phone manufactured by HTC, and will run a custom Google Android operating system running Facebook’s own mobile ecosystem which will give the company the new portal of revenue.
The phone is now using the codename “Buffy” according to the website, and its obvious compelling feature is the deep Facebook integration. The site is also adding that the phone will feature a more advanced Facebook feel running the Android banner that will bring “friends and social activities deep into the mobile interface.” Another thing worth noting is the possible no-Google search interface of the Facebook phone. Are you willing to own a device without the Google search engine?
Apparently, the so-called Facebook phone will be the first product from Facebook that will compete against Apple and other manufacturers like Samsung, Motorola and Microsoft’s super-partner Nokia. Apple is claiming that the iPhone 4S is the most powerful (and most popular) iPhone yet, while Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus is getting a lot of attention due to its new operating system, the Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Meanwhile, Nokia is still not getting much attention (and love) in the smartphone market arena based on the reports posted online last week. Can Facebook compete?
No word yet about the phone’s release date but if it will arrive early next year, then it will face the iPhone 4S, a set of new Android devices running the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and some Windows Phone-based devices from Nokia and other OEMs.
Facebook, Microsoft’s partner competing against a Microsoft partner, while helping Google? Crazy, but very exciting.
