Gadgets and OS that disappoint fans in 2011

The current year is about to bid farewell. We have discussed many top rated technologies that lured us throughout this year, but today we have come up with gadgets/ OS that failed to receive the love of people.

Here are the three things that didn’t appeal and fascinate people a lot

                      HP TOUCHPAD / WEBOS

Everyone knows that the Apple’s iPad has gripped the tablet market with number one position. So who’s second? The TouchPad by the Hewlett Packard is the second best tablet of the year as it latest batch vanishes in minutes from the Stores. Do you think it great? Yes it is. But let’s look at the background of the tablet.

Hp manufactured a 10-inches tablet that is packed with a wireless printing, absolute multi tasking and the Adobe Flash. The table runs on the webOS that HP got when it acquired Palm with a cost of $1.2 billion. But unfortunately HP manages to sell only 10% units of this $499 tablet. The reason behind this can be that the tablet lacks third party apps.

This gave an impression that the fate of TouchPad is sealed for all the times to come but recently the CEO of the company Meg Whitman tried to drag its dishearten tablet and Operating System from the verge of extinction and made the webOS open source and presented this tablet for $99 only. This drop off in the price, boost its fire sales and made the company to continue with the sales of its webOS tablets.

The HP’s operating system, webOS has failed to get the love of developers in the post PDA times. But this rattles a question in minds that with Android blossoming so rapidly in the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Amazon Kindle Fire and Windows 8 unveiling next year. Will there be any place for this poor fated webOS?
IPHONE 4S

The Cupertino maintained great hype before the launch of the iPhone 4S, but unluckily it failed to wow the customers. The device didn’t let the expectations of the manufacturer down as it earned a business by selling more than 4 million units in the first three days, while its Korean rival hit this record in more than three months.

Despite of the great selling record the iPhone disappoint its fans. Excitement of people vanished when they observed this iPhone with only minimal upgrades to the iPhone 4. The Cupertino giant’s rivals Samsung, Motorola and HTC released 4-inch-plus screen smartphones while the iPhone 4S is designed with the same 3.5-inch screen like its predecessor.

The iPhone 4S debuted with a blockbuster launch, new from inside, with its super rocking Siri, Find My Friends, 8-megapixel, 1080p high-definition camera and A5 dual-core chip processor.

But the iPhone 4S is haunted by many bugs and issues. With the new Android updates revealing in the next year, it is worth thinking whether iPhone 4S will maintain its position in the markets?

 WINDOWS PHONE 7

Microsoft commenced with a slow start but continue to flourish speedily. The company set up by the Bill Gates is destined to compete with the leading platforms like the Android and IOS with its Mango operating system. The latest device released by the company is the Nokia Lumia 800 which is as amazing as the Meego-based Nokia N9. The Windows Phone 7 platform by the company has been utilized by the HTC, Dell, Samsung and LG but the OS declined the market share of the Microsoft from 1.7 percent in the second quarter to1.6 percent in the third quarter.

Microsoft is expected to release Windows 8, the first platform to work on tablets, smartphones and PCs.

Survey: iPhone 4S, Galaxy S2 top phones in Europe

A new survey finds Europeans love iPhone 4S, Galaxy S2.
Analysts at Exane BNP Paribas surveyed 1,300 consumers in five different countries in Europe this month, and they found out that Apple’s iPhone 4S and Samsung’s Galaxy S2 are the most popular smartphones in the region. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s partner Nokia has failed to attract European customers. According to the survey, only 2.2 percent wanted to get the new Lumia 800 or 710.
It is worth noting though that the Windows Phone operating system is a “newer” operating system, and the two new Nokia Windows Phones don’t offer some features like video chat due to lack of front-facing camera, and the Windows Phone OS doesn’t offer Adobe Flash Player support, while the iPhone 4S is a more popular smartphone largely due to its iOS 5 operating system with a wider range of smartphone applications. Samsung’s Galaxy S2 is also a popular smartphone because it features Android, the most popular operating system based on the current market share.
According to analyst Alexander Peterc, the data show that Nokia’s flagship phones are “far behind the current blockbusters.” The analysts, with the new findings, have slashed the Lumia sales estimates from 2 million to just 800,000.
The Nokia Lumia 710 and 800 are now available in Europe, and new reports have confirmed that the two new Windows Phone devices are poised to arrive next year here in United States. The Nokia Lumia 710 will join the T-Mobile USA lineup next month, sporting the tag price of just $49.99, while the Lumia 800 is rumored to include Long Term Evolution, and expected to join either AT&T and Verizon, or both.
The iPhone 4S is now available via three different carriers in US, while more than five Samsung Galaxy S2 variants are currently available in the country including AT&T’s new S2 Skyrocket with LTE and T-Mobile’s white Galaxy S2.
Can the Windows Phone grab more market share here in the United States with the two new Nokia phones, or Nokia should create newer phones to attract more customers?

Samsung’s emoticons vs iPhone 4S, Verizon Galaxy Nexus gets a “wallet”

Samsung’s lawsuit against Apple involves “digital smile creation,” Plus, the company’s new phone hacked to include Google Wallet.

Two new Samsung news to serve you. One, and probably the more interesting is the lawsuit filed by Samsung against Apple in Europe. According to FOSS Patents, Android-based smartphone maker Samsung has dropped a number of 3G technology-related patents from its suit against the Cupertino, California-based company Apple related to the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 4 smartphones.
According to the report, Samsung has recognized Apple’s licensing agreement with Qualcomm. For starters, Apple’s new iPhone 4S features a Qualcomm MDM6610, and the CDMA iPhone 4 includes the MDM6600. According to Florian Mueller, Samsung’s “tactical move” of dropping the 3G patents is for the mere purpose of streamlining the Mannheim case.
Still related to the Apple vs Samsung case in Germany, Samsung reportedly added two additional suits against Apple which involve four patents, the standard patents are: first is the “method for reporting an inter-frequency measurement result using a random access channel (RACH) message in a mobile communication system,” and second is the “method for configuring gain factors for uplink service in radio telecommunication system.”
The “non-standard” patents according to Mueller, first is the patent on ”speech output device for data displayed on mobile telephone converts data from display into speech data for output via loudspeaker,” and the “cutest” is the patent on an “emoticon input method for mobile terminal.” Emoticon, or “:-)” <– This.
Can the putting emoticons ban Apple smartphones?
In related news, Samsung is challenging Apple in the United States this week with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus or the Verizon variant with Long Term Evolution.
Apparently, rumors circulated online that Verizon (or Google) delayed the launch of the device due to the Google Wallet app, or the NFC-based service which features the wave and pay payment system powered by the wireless Near Field Communication technology built-in inside the phone’s battery.
The Verizon Galaxy Nexus was launched without the feature, however, hackers have found a way to install the NFC feature — by rooting the phone.
According to Droid Life, the process is not “too hard to follow,” but if you’re not an advanced user, forget it and just wait for the software update (if Verizon will allow it).

Aakash tablet goes on sale for Rs 2500 online

DataWind, the Canadian company that is manufacturing Aakash, has started the online booking and pre booking of the much anticipated low cost Android tablet. Online booking is for students' version of the tablet and pre booking is for UbiSlate 7, the upgraded version of Aakash.

Students' version of Aakash will be available for Rs 2,500 and will be delivered in seven days. The commercial version, UbiSlate 7 is priced at Rs 2,999. The payment mode for both the tablets is cash on delivery.

The commercial version of Aakash tablet will be powered by Android 2.3 and will have a resistive touchscreen, Cortex A8-700 MHz processor and graphics accelerator HD video processor, 256 MB of RAM and 2 GB of internal memory.

Other specifications are a one standard USB port, 3.5 mm audio jack, a 7 inch display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, resistive touchscreen, GPRS and WiFi support.

"The improved version of Aakash tablet will be available in retail outlets by January end," a spokesperson of DataWind told The Mobile Indian.

The tablet was to be made available in retail stores by the end of November. "The delay in the availability of the tablet has been due to upgradation in the tablet and some unforeseen delay in manufacturing," the spokesperson said.

To book and prebook student and commercial versions respectively of Aakash tablet, users have to visit DataWind's website and fill up the required form. In case of booking they will get a booking ID and a message which will state, "You will shortly receive an email confirmation from our support team with further details."

In case of pre booking users will get a confirmation message which will state, "The commercial version of the Akash UbiSlate 7 would be launched in early weeks of December. After the commercial launch we would get in touch with you to deliver your device as soon possible."

As a matter of fact, the confirmation message a reader will see is factually incorrect as The mobile Indian had reported earlier the Aakash tablet will be available only by January end.

Datawind has however not cleared how it is going to establish the identity of students who will book the cheapest version of Aakash tablet. When The Mobile Indian contacted spokesperson of Datwind he said, "Anyone can book the student version of Aakash tablet."

This defeats the purpose of providing students an affordable tablet as now anyone can place an order to get the tablet. Interestingly, now it has been revealed that the government has procured only 10,000 Aakash tablets for distribution in schools and colleges of the initial 1 lakh proposed.

It looks like the company was in a hurry to start the online booking process and has not done not proper homework before staring it.

iPhone 5, T-Mobile and the merger

T-Mobile iPhone to get a green signal if the merger will not push through?
T-Mobile USA doesn’t offer the iPhone yet, and it looks like they will not get it until next year if the merger drama will continue. iPhone 5 running on T-Mobile possible if the deal will not push through?
This year, tech sites think the merger has affected the iPhone T-Mobile plan, quoting the statement coming from the company, “T-Mobile USA remains an independent company,” adding that the AT&T deal is expected to be completed in 12 months.
And here’s the latest development regarding the merger,
AT&T has agreed to postpone the antitrust lawsuit amid strong opposition from the regulators and consumers, including the future of the T-Mobile iPhone 5.
Rumors say the iPhone 5 will get an October release date, but what if the merger will collapse or will not push through? Is it possible that a T-Mobile iPhone 4S will arrive before Q2? Or, a T-Mobile iPhone 5 that will compete against AT&T?
AT&T recently unveiled its plan to purchase Qualcomm’s spectrum and the FTC or Federal Communications Commission will decide in the next 6 months if it will approve the buy.
Apparently, rumors also say that the next iPhone will include LTE or Long Term Evolution, so it is highly possible that AT&T will expand its 4G network to compete against Verizon’s wider coverage, and Sprint’s upcoming (planned) LTE network.

Nokia Lumia 900?

A Twitter post outs the Nokia Lumia 900, front-facing camera and new built-in software.
Not interested in Lumia 800 or 710?
Well, Nokia might get your attention next year with a new phone, and the release date of the device was leaked online by telecom company Swisscom. The new Nokia Lumia 900, according to the wireless carrier, is scheduled to arrive in Europe in February.
It is worth noting that the Lumia 900 is not a new resident in the rumor mill. In fact, it was allegedly outed by a video from Nokia. You can watch in in YouTube.
No word yet or fresh additional rumors about the Lumia 900 but it is highly possible that the device will offer new features like front-facing camera and built-in Nokia-made software to attract more customers. Older rumors have suggested that the new device will offer a single-core CPU, an 8-megapixel camera and HSPA+ connectivity.
Nokia is set to release its first Windows Phone in United States next month through T-Mobile USA, the Nokia Lumia 710, and other wireless carriers are rumored to offer the LTE Lumia 800 next year

White Samsung Galaxy S2 to rival iPhone 4S

T-Mobile getting a white Samsung Galaxy S II or S2 to rival Apple’s white iPhone 4S.
Customers love choices, including the color of smartphones — and it looks like T-Mobile is aware of the fact that customers want a white high-end Android phone too.
To challenge the white iPhone 4S, Samsung and T-Mobile USA are introducing the white Samsung Galaxy S2. According to the wireless carrier, the new white Samsung phone is scheduled to hit its online store on December 14th sporting the tag price of $229.99 with the two-year contract agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate.
Similar to the original (black) Samsung Galaxy S2, the new white T-Mobile Galaxy S II is powered by 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S3, 1GB of RAM and includes 16GB of onboard storage with MicroSD card support. The T-Mobile Galaxy S2 also features 4.52-inch WVGA multitouch Super AMOLED Plus, and two cameras, the front-facing 2MP and the back facing 8MP.
The white Samsung Galaxy S2 is also a “4G” phone, or a smartphone with T-Mobile’s HSPA+.
According to the latest data presented by Canaccord Genuity, the Samsung Galaxy S II is T-Mobile’s most popular smartphone for the month of November, while other wireless carriers hailed the iPhone 4S.

If you’re not a T-Mobile subscriber, AT&T is also offering its own white Galaxy S2, the Galaxy S II Skyrocket.
The Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket is AT&T’s first Samsung LTE device, and the second Galaxy S II variant of the wireless carrier. In Korea, Samsung is also set to release the white Samsung Galaxy S II LTE.
Samsung is airing an advertisement today to promote the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II and to mock the iPhone 4S, including all the Apple customers who waited in line for hours in front of Apple stores just to buy the new phone. Apparently, the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 commercial shows Android’s flexibility when it comes to music storage and movie purchases.

ASUS Transformer Prime delayed due to WiFi issues?

The much-anticipated tablet from ASUS is reportedly delayed due to WiFi issues.
A new report posted by Mobile Syrup reveals that ASUS is delaying the launch of the Transformer 2 or Transformer Prime due to WiFi issues, similar to the Kindle Fire?
Well, the report is citing an e-mail from NCIX, claiming that the new tablet might not arrive before the Christmas day, and the delay is not only affecting Canada (where the e-mail originated), but also the United States and other countries because the e-mail says the tablet is delayed “worldwide.”
Apparently, Amazon has decided to drop its own Transformer Prime pre-order program due to inventory issues, but no word about the problem or if Asus is confirming the issue. It is worth noting that other retailers are still accepting pre-orders including the latest online reseller from United Kingdom.
The Asus Transformer Prime is arguably the best Android tablet yet courtesy of Nvidia’s new Tegra 3 CPU, plus the fact that Asus is expected to upgrade the device’s operating system from the Honeycomb 3.2 to the latest Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich which includes a set of new features including the much-needed user experience enhancements related to user interface and applications support.
Aside from the quad-core CPU, the Asus Transformer Prime features an 8-megapixel camera, a front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, and the optional dock that will transform the Android tablet into a conventional laptop or netbook computer.

Android galore: White Droid Razr, XyBoard tablets arriving this month

Whether you like it or not, Android devices ar here to stay, and more devices are coming this month that will attract your credit card.
Verizon Wireless, the biggest wireless carrier here in United States, is set to unveil new Android devices courtesy of Motorola Mobility, from tablets to a new smartphone. Motorola Mobility and Verizon Wireless announced this week the upcoming white Motorola Droid Razr, the newest Droid Razr variant that will target the fans of white-coloured smartphones. Apparently, the new white Droid Razr will rival Apple’s white iPhone 4S whether Apple likes it or not.
The new Droid Razr will offer the same under the hood power, and of course, the same thickness. The device offers 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, Super AMOLED qHD screen, and two cameras. Plus, this new Droid Razr is also expected to receive the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update early next year.
In related news, Verizon Wireless started selling new Motorola tablets with the Long Term Evolution flavor this month, the Motorola Droid XyBoard tablets. Two variants, the more conventional XyBoard 10.1 which is similar but better than the Motorola Xoom, and the smaller but better if you hate the idea of carrying a big tablet, XyBoard 8.2 — the two new tablets are now available.
According to Motorola’s press release, the new DROID XYBOARD 10.1 will be available in three models: 16 GB for $529.99 and 32 GB for $629.99. The 64 GB model will be available online for $729.99. These tablets require 2 year contract agreement plus additional data plan.
Meanwhile, the new Droid XyBoard 8.2 is also available in two models, 16 GB for $429.99 and 32 GB for $529.99, and still, the smaller XyBoards require 2-year contract agreement with Verizon Wireless plus taxes and the required data plan.
For the Droid Razr, Verizon is set to use the $299.99 price tag with a new two-year customer agreement. Customers are also required to subscribe to Verizon’s smartphone data package starting at $30 monthly access for 2 GB of data.

iPhone 4S Christmas sale? RadioShack to offer $30 discount

f you’re a regular reader of smartphone news, you know that majority of stores are giving discounts for Android devices almost everyday, and MORE discounts during holiday season (ehem, Black Friday), well, Apple’s popular smartphone receives its first discount treatment today courtesy of US retailer RadioShack.
According to multiple reports, the consumer electronics chain will start selling cheap iPhone 4S this weekend, a business strategy to attract more customers. Well, analysts predict that Apple is likely to sell more iPhone 4S this month due to strong smartphone demand, and RadioShack obviously wants a piece of the pie.

RadioShack is selling cheaper iPhones today, starting from the 8GB iPhone 4 to the high-end 64GB iPhone 4S. According to the leaked list, the iPhone 4S 16GB will sport the tag price of $169.99, 32GB for $269.99 and the64GB iPhone 4S for $369.99. Apparently, discounted iPhones require 2-year contract agreement with AT&T. Meanwhile,  the older iPhone 3GS is now free, also with 2-year contract with AT&T. It is worth noting that the iPhone 4 and the 4S are smartphones (obviously), so the phones require additional smartphone data plan.
This week, J.P. Morgan posted its prediction that 23 million smartphones are expected to be sold this quarter and 11.5 million are expected to be iPhones while other smartphones running other platform will grab the remaining 11.5 million here in United States.

Can the iPhone 5 avoid the 4S battery life problem?

Siri? iCloud? Bug? How can the next iPhone avoid the much-publicized battery life problem reportedly (and still) plaguing the iPhone 4S.

The iPhone 5 is still considered as a big all caps RUMOR, but apparently, Apple will release a new iPhone next year and it will use the iPhone 5 moniker.
Rumors this week talked about the iPhone 5 release date and features. From dual-core to quad-core CPU to larger screen and new design, of course, it is still the same old cycle of rumors circulating on the internet claiming that Apple’s iPhone 5 will be the biggest and the most aggressive iPhone yet.
But there’s a catch, majority of rumors don’t talk about the battery life. Yes, quad-core CPU will likely drain the battery juice of a phone faster compared to a dual-core, and it is not a myth. Larger screen? Yes, more pixels per inch and larger display will drain the battery faster compared to smaller screen.
Apparently, Apple’s iPhone 4S received (and still receiving) bad publicity due to the reported bug draining the battery juice of the new dual-core iPhone. According to Apple, the problem is due to a “bug” and only affecting a small number of iPhone 4S users, but based on a discussion in Apple’s own website, many are still complaining.
One iPhone user said he is in love with the iPhone 4S, but doesn’t like the quick battery drain, “I received my phone last weekend and experienced 5 to 8% battery drain per hour. The apple store wiped my phone and disabled some apps – however that did not resolve the problem. The rep blamed having an exchange email account as part of the problem. Don’t get me wrong – I love the phone – however I hate having to keep the phone near a charger throughout the day.”
Another discussion contributor added that the problem may be related to the iOS 5 and not the hardware or dual-core CPU. “Yea, it’s a problem with the iOS 5! My iPhone 4 has this problem after updating to iOS 5.”
Reports say Apple is set to end the problem with a new software update, but what if the problem is not software related?
If Apple’s iPhone 5 will include LTE or quad-core CPU, it must also include a larger battery, or better, they should stick with dual-core CPU and HSPA+ next year to avoid the same battery life problem.
Another reason why the iPhone 5 should use dual-core CPU or larger battery is due to the iCloud which is reportedly adding the juice-draining problem especially the “iCloud Backup” feature.

Asus Transformer Prime still on schedule

ASUS addresses the rumors, denies delay. Plus, multiple blogs say the Asus Transformer Prime WiFi problem is not true.
Can’t wait to use your ASUS Transformer Prime? Well, here’s one good news that you might want to read.
Apparently, reports circulate online that the first Tegra 3 tablet is delayed due to weak WiFi signal, plus, ASUS is reportedly facing inventory issues resulting to pre-orders being cancelled by some third-party retailers including Amazon.
Bad publicity about the Transformer Prime, right? Well, ASUS is not into Apple-style silent mode and issued a statement. On Sunday, the emerging tablet computer company said that the Transformer Prime, or Transformer 2 is still on schedule — yup, still arriving on 19th, before Christmas day, and the statement dismisses the rumors that the tablet will not arrive this month.
On Saturday, a report posted by Mobile Syrup revealed that NCIX, a computer retailer in Canada issued an email claiming that the delay is due to WiFi issues, adding that due to the problem, the Asus Prime might not reach the stores before Christmas.
Mixed reactions from tech sites also appeared online. According to SlashGear, their demo unit “doesn’t experience any WiFi issues,” but Android Central said their unit does, “the Prime does have a bit weaker signal when a good distance from my router. The Android-centric site also added that compared to other devices like smartphones, computers and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Transformer Prime shows weaker WiFi pickup.
Majority of Asus Transformer Prime reviews say the new tablet is the best Android tablet yet, and some adding that it is the best tablet (beating the iPad).

Google celebrates Robert Noyce birthday, Silicon Valley’s birth

Exclusive first look:

After Diego Rivera’s Google Doodle last Thursday, Google’s patented Doodle is back on the homepage to celebrate what would have been the 84th birthday of Silicon Valley icon Robert Noyce, one of the founders of Intel Corporation, and one of the talented individuals behind the microchip which fueled PC revolution in California and gave the Silicon Valley its name.
The Doodle is not yet available here in United States, but our writers based in Hong Kong sent this image, saying that the Robert Noyce Google Doodle is now up and running in the Asia-Pacific. It is worth noting Hong Kong is 13 hours ahead of New York City, so the date there is already December 12, the birth date of Robert Noyce.

And to celebrate his birthday, Google tweaked its logo to feature a microchip with the Google branding. Apparently, Google is the company behind the open platform Android, so it looks like the search engine giant has the reason to celebrate the microchip (or CPU), and celebrating Robert Noyce’s birthday is like thanking him too.
According to Mr. Noyce’s Wikipedia entry, he was born and raised in Iowa. At the age of 12, he created his first boy-sized aircraft, and assembled a radio from scratch. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1945 and entered Grinnell College in the fall of that year. He graduated there with a BA in physics and mathematics and in 1953, he earned his Ph.D. in physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
After his graduation, his first job was a research engineer at the Philco Corporation in Pennsylvania and left the company in 1956 and moved to Mountain View, California to work at Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory. After one year with William Shockley, he co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor corporation.
After 10 years with Fairchild, he and Gordon Moore founded Intel in 1968.
Now let’s talk Mr. Noyce’s his love life. According to his Wiki entry, he married Elizabeth Bottomley in 1953 but they divorced in 1974. Noyce and Bottomley had four children.
After his divorce, Noyce married Ann Schmeltz Bowers, the first Director of Personnel for Intel Corporation and the first Vice President of Human Resources for Apple Inc.
Noyce died from a heart attack at home on June 3, 1990 in Texas.
To honor the memory and Dr. Robert N. Noyce, his family founded Noyce Foundation in 1990 “to support the informal science community to develop work that addresses the gaps that exist in outcomes measurement, research and evaluation, program scale up, leadership development, policy issues, and pathways or pipeline design.”

Galaxy Nexus of Verizon is an expensive phone

Indeed, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus is an expensive phone to the tune of $1,200 in Ebay.
Calling all high-deffers..
Apparently, the listing has now been removed due to unknown reason/s, but for the sake of talking about the best Android phone yet, we’ve been told that a person was trying to sell the Galaxy Nexus with Verizon LTE for $1,200. If I’m not mistaken, the HSPA+ variant is priced at around $700 so the Ebay listing might be overpriced.
If we’re going to talk about supply vs demand, we know that rare products are usually more expensive than over supplied products. The bottom line, Verizon is still not announcing the release date of the Galaxy Nexus, or even its price tag. Rumors say it will debut this week, but Verizon is not yet commenting regarding the issue.
In related news, the HSPA+ unlocked Galaxy Nexus is currently priced at around $750 to $800. According to multiple online retailers, the Galaxy Nexus is one of the best-selling phones this month. Expansys, a third-party retailer of the unlocked Galaxy Nexus ranks the Galaxy Nexus as the most popular smartphone as of Sunday, beating Samsung’s other popular phones like the Samsung Galaxy Note, the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Motorola’s Droid Razr.

According to the mill, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus might get a $299.99 price tag due to the 32GB on-board storage. In other countries, the Galaxy Nexus variant available is the 16GB model, while the 32GB HSPA+ variant is listed but reportedly “not yet available.”
So aside from the LTE or Long Term Evolution and a pair of Verizon apps, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus could be the first 32GB variant available and it is a big good news because apparently, the Galaxy Nexus doesn’t support MicroSD card.

Perhaps too embarrassed to ask "what does that mean?". In these situations I'd usually turn to the UrbanDictionary.com website. While the site does work just fine on iOS (it loads a mobile version), I still like dedicated Apps in cases like this simply because they're usually faster and offer more options. The Urban Dictionary Definitions App is my App of choice for this. I like the user interface and it's fast. Also since it's an App it offers some nice sharing options too. Also since it's an App you can easily save words/definitions to your Favorites list in the App. If you're up for a laugh or two, hit the Random Word feature. As you can see above, you may get some pretty funny stuff to read.

While the App works exactly as advertised I'd like to see a "Recents" feature that would list say the last 10 words that I looked up for quick reference.

So the next time you find yourself hearing a word that's not exactly going to be in Webster's dictionary chances are it will be in the over 4 million words in the Urban Dictionary Definitions App.
