Gadgets and OS that disappoint fans in 2011

The current year is about to bid farewell. We have discussed many top rated technologies that lured us throughout this year, but today we have come up with gadgets/ OS that failed to receive the love of people.

Here are the three things that didn’t appeal and fascinate people a lot

                      HP TOUCHPAD / WEBOS

Everyone knows that the Apple’s iPad has gripped the tablet market with number one position. So who’s second? The TouchPad by the Hewlett Packard is the second best tablet of the year as it latest batch vanishes in minutes from the Stores. Do you think it great? Yes it is. But let’s look at the background of the tablet.

Hp manufactured a 10-inches tablet that is packed with a wireless printing, absolute multi tasking and the Adobe Flash. The table runs on the webOS that HP got when it acquired Palm with a cost of $1.2 billion. But unfortunately HP manages to sell only 10% units of this $499 tablet. The reason behind this can be that the tablet lacks third party apps.

This gave an impression that the fate of TouchPad is sealed for all the times to come but recently the CEO of the company Meg Whitman tried to drag its dishearten tablet and Operating System from the verge of extinction and made the webOS open source and presented this tablet for $99 only. This drop off in the price, boost its fire sales and made the company to continue with the sales of its webOS tablets.

The HP’s operating system, webOS has failed to get the love of developers in the post PDA times. But this rattles a question in minds that with Android blossoming so rapidly in the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Amazon Kindle Fire and Windows 8 unveiling next year. Will there be any place for this poor fated webOS?
IPHONE 4S

The Cupertino maintained great hype before the launch of the iPhone 4S, but unluckily it failed to wow the customers. The device didn’t let the expectations of the manufacturer down as it earned a business by selling more than 4 million units in the first three days, while its Korean rival hit this record in more than three months.

Despite of the great selling record the iPhone disappoint its fans. Excitement of people vanished when they observed this iPhone with only minimal upgrades to the iPhone 4. The Cupertino giant’s rivals Samsung, Motorola and HTC released 4-inch-plus screen smartphones while the iPhone 4S is designed with the same 3.5-inch screen like its predecessor.

The iPhone 4S debuted with a blockbuster launch, new from inside, with its super rocking Siri, Find My Friends, 8-megapixel, 1080p high-definition camera and A5 dual-core chip processor.

But the iPhone 4S is haunted by many bugs and issues. With the new Android updates revealing in the next year, it is worth thinking whether iPhone 4S will maintain its position in the markets?

 WINDOWS PHONE 7

Microsoft commenced with a slow start but continue to flourish speedily. The company set up by the Bill Gates is destined to compete with the leading platforms like the Android and IOS with its Mango operating system. The latest device released by the company is the Nokia Lumia 800 which is as amazing as the Meego-based Nokia N9. The Windows Phone 7 platform by the company has been utilized by the HTC, Dell, Samsung and LG but the OS declined the market share of the Microsoft from 1.7 percent in the second quarter to1.6 percent in the third quarter.

Microsoft is expected to release Windows 8, the first platform to work on tablets, smartphones and PCs.
