f you’re a regular reader of smartphone news, you know that majority of stores are giving discounts for Android devices almost everyday, and MORE discounts during holiday season (ehem, Black Friday), well, Apple’s popular smartphone receives its first discount treatment today courtesy of US retailer RadioShack.
According to multiple reports, the consumer electronics chain will start selling cheap iPhone 4S this weekend, a business strategy to attract more customers. Well, analysts predict that Apple is likely to sell more iPhone 4S this month due to strong smartphone demand, and RadioShack obviously wants a piece of the pie.
RadioShack is selling cheaper iPhones today, starting from the 8GB iPhone 4 to the high-end 64GB iPhone 4S. According to the leaked list, the iPhone 4S 16GB will sport the tag price of $169.99, 32GB for $269.99 and the64GB iPhone 4S for $369.99. Apparently, discounted iPhones require 2-year contract agreement with AT&T. Meanwhile, the older iPhone 3GS is now free, also with 2-year contract with AT&T. It is worth noting that the iPhone 4 and the 4S are smartphones (obviously), so the phones require additional smartphone data plan.
This week, J.P. Morgan posted its prediction that 23 million smartphones are expected to be sold this quarter and 11.5 million are expected to be iPhones while other smartphones running other platform will grab the remaining 11.5 million here in United States.
