Motorola Droid Razr, Motorola Mobility’s new Android device is now $100 cheaper courtesy of third-party retailer.
Motorola’s new flagship device, the Droid Razr, has received its first price drop since its launch yesterday. The expensive new Droid mixed up with Motorola’s most popular phone brand is now $111.11 at Amazon Wireless. After using my phone’s calculator, I discovered that Amazon’s offer is $188.88 cheaper than Verizon’s, a pretty sweet deal that might attract more customers.
Apparently, Amazon’s offer also requires 2-year contract agreement with Verizon Wireless and customers must pay the fee through Amazon’s own credit card portal.
Verizon Wireless launched the new Droid Razr on Friday, November 11 or “11-11 of 2011″ or 11-11-11, and Verizon has made the Droid Razr’s launch a more dramatic one by selling the device at 11:11 in the morning.
The new Droid Razr is Motorola’s first “Android Ice Cream Sandwich” device, but it currently offers Android Gingerbread 2.3 with a custom Motorola skin, and the much-anticipated and much-needed software update will not arrive until “early next year.” It is also worth noting that Motorola is not yet mentioning the exact release date of Droid Razr’s (and the global Motorola Razr with Android) Android 4.0 ICS upgrade.
For starters, the Motorola Droid Razr is considered as a “high-end” Android device courtesy of the device’s 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP CPU plus its 1GB of DDR2 RAM reportedly manufactured by Samsung, Moto’s competitor slash business partner.
Other features are 4.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with 540 x 960 resolution or the so-called qHD with pixel density of at least 256 ppi. The device is also equipped with a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera and its primary camera is the 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording support and “image stabilization” software feature.
The Motorola Droid Razr is competing against Apple’s popular iPhone 4S smartphone, and will compete against Verizon’s new Long Term Evolution Android lineup, the Samsung Google Galaxy Nexus and the HTC Rezound. The Samsung phone with the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich is reportedly set to arrive this month (no specific date yet), while the HTC Rezound will start arriving in stores on November 14 sporting the same “premium” tag price of $299.99 on contract.
