iPhone 4S (or iPhone 5) with Siri will control TV?

iPhone 4S, or maybe, Apple’s next smartphone may be the next big TV remote replacement courtesy of Siri.

New York Times has posted a very intriguing new article on Thursday talking about the iPhone 4S, voice command app Siri and Apple TV — not the set-top box, but a conventional TV with Apple logo.
The sources of Apple TV plan, according to the report, are some of the company’s employees and people knowledgable about the rumored product who spoke to the newspaper on the condition of anonymity.

Steve Jobs, Apple’s late former Chief, thinks that the “TV industry is broken,” and just like Apple’s iPod (that reinvented the music business) and iPad (the first successful tablet PC) and the iPhone (that reshaped the phone business), Apple is reportedly busy preparing a TV that will compete against the market’s leaders like Sony, Samsung, Sharp, LG, and more.
The report claims Apple will use Siri as the catalyst of the rumored TV set. Siri is the voice command application exclusively offered by the new iPhone 4S. Apple’s next possible smartphone, the iPhone 5, may also include Siri.
Siri, according to the publication’s sources, will allow users to control the Apple TV set like changing channels, saving programs or just switch between TV channels by using simple natural voice. If true, then Apple should also add “change contrast,” and “switch on/off.”
“I’ve finally cracked it!” said Jobs according to the report, taken from Walter Isaacton’s Steve Jobs biography book.
The “cracked” quote from Jobs is related to Apple’s successful Siri implementation says the paper — so if the rumor is true, then the remote control of the rumored Apple TV is the iPhone 4S or the iPhone 5, or the next iPhone that will also include the Siri feature.
NY Times is claiming that Apple started its TV development in 2007 with the Apple TV set-top box, and is now “close enough” to hit the stage by 2012, and the TV set may hit stores in 2013.
