Apple will replace first-generation iPod Nanos related to battery issues.
Apple has confirmed on Friday that will recall its first-generation iPod nano due to overheating risk. According to MacRumors, the Cupertino, California-based company has started notifying customers regarding the replacement program intended to address concerns over defective batteries.
According to Apple’s e-mail, the battery problem affects an iPod nano model that includes defective batteries from one battery supplier. The company also added that the models affected were sold between Sep 2005 to December 2006.
“In very rare cases,” the company said adding that overheating may happen and it will “pose a safety risk.” The computer and smartphone company also advised its affected iPod Nano customers to stop using the device and request for the replacement free of charge through its new claim form.
After registration, Apple will send a box to ship the eligible iPod Nano model back to the company. Apple said the replacement unit will be shipped six weeks after a user send in the old nano.
